We will be forever grateful for the many ways in which she showed such tremendous compassion.
It’s been a month now since I lost my dad and there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think of his amazing nurse Marie. We will be forever grateful for the many ways in which she showed such tremendous compassion. I truly believe that God gave us one of his best as we were going through life’s worst. It’s hard to put into mere words just how much her kindness meant to us during his final hours. We all knew we couldn’t reverse how my dad’s story on earth was going to come to a close that day, but something that was left in Marie’s very competent hands was the journey, and she made a big impact on ours. She gave it her all and made sure we could be there when he passed. Dad had just been given 6 months due to pancreatic cancer, but an infection was going to give us barely 6 days. I know now it was never going to be enough. NKC Hospital will always hold a special place in my heart as your staff saved my dad’s life on multiple occasions, including when he had the widow-maker heart attack in 2007 and again in 2013 when early lung cancer was discovered by your staff and subsequently successfully treated. Thus, I smile rather than cry as I drive by your hospital now because I know Dad was in the very best care until he took his very last breath. I wholeheartedly hope you will give sincere consideration to Marie for your DAISY Award.
