Many couples hope to grow old together, staying by one another’s side until passing. But having both individuals hospitalized on different units can be very difficult. Douglas Ranson rose to the challenge. Mr. Ranson coordinated the arrival of a dying patient’s spouse to be present in the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Emergency Room. Even lifting them up to offer a kiss. Ensuring that his dying patient was surrounded by their close family as they took their last breath.
