Every shift Kay comes to the DMS board with a smile always on her face. As good leaders know, setting the tone for the shift begins with the first group interaction at the huddle. Kay always starts out by telling us the good things we are doing and encouraging others to continue. She tells us our work is meaningful, important, and recognized. Kay inspires her team to strive for excellence and is willing to help us get there. Whether that means coming in to work on a holiday weekend, calling and checking in with people who may not regularly see management, or taking a full ICU patient assignment. Kay embodies what every critical care unit wants to be: flexible, cohesive, motivating, kind, goal-oriented, advocacy.
