Gisli is skilled in bringing cutting-edge controversy to his classrooms and online courses.
Gisli is a leader in promoting an expanded and updated vision of psych/mental health nursing that incorporates scientific evidence on the value of non-pharmacologic approaches to mental health care in addition to more conventional approaches. His presentations and teaching about his own studies on the effects of mindfulness-based interventions on impulsivity, depression, anxiety, and quality of life in persons with substance abuse disorders, and traumatic brain injury represent examples of out of the box thinking that benefits undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Nursing.

Gisli is skilled in bringing cutting-edge controversy to his classrooms and online courses. He has brought very controversial figures to his ethics classes, stimulating the students to question the status quo and actively explore all sides of current and relevant ethical issues. Student feedback on these experiences had been overwhelmingly positive. Dr. Kristofersson is not only an out-of-the-box thinker himself but has fostered out-of-the-box thinking in nursing students and inter-professional groups of students.
