That night after Rick was off duty a female nurse brought me the flowers and said that Rick told her to give them to me for my wife.
I had one male nurse that was very good (10++). He went over and beyond the services of his profession. I happened to be in the hospital on our 49th anniversary and I called down to the gift shop to order some flowers for my wife, and they could not take a credit card because their machine was broken. I also called our local Hy-Vee Store and they could not guarantee when they could deliver the flowers. I talked to Rick and told him the story. I gave all the money I had on me at the time ($13.00) and Rick went to the gift shop to try and buy me flowers for my wife and the shop was closed because of the broken credit card machine. He brought the money back to me and my wife was there, so he hid the money so my wife would not know what we were up to. But I told him not to worry because my wife ran into the same problem with the gift shop. That night after Rick was off duty a female nurse brought me the flowers and said that Rick told her to give them to me for my wife. He did not have any of my money, so I assume that he paid for the flowers out of his own pocket. I would like to meet with Rick and thank him personally for all the work he did above and beyond his duties.
