Tony is one of the best peri-operative nurses we have in Jewish Hospital. He is a very diligent, proactive, compassionate, and hardworking nurse.

Tony was nominated for The DAISY Award by six of his OR colleagues:

I have been an anesthesiologist at Jewish for more than 15 years and it is extremely challenging taking care of some of the sickest patients with multiple medical problems and that it would not have been possible without the support of excellent nurses around. Tony Kruer is one among them. It is such a pleasure to have someone like him around during weekends. He is extremely patient, alert, very skillful, and supportive when it comes to helping out during critical situations like unanticipated difficult intubations, getting everything organized to handle an unstable patient, and checking with the anesthesiologist if they need anything else being very supportive all the time. Every weekend for the past 6 years (my duration of employment, not his) Tony goes above and beyond his peers in terms of compassionate patient care and advocacy as well as OR efficiency and care of high acuity patients. He has helped me numerous times in the perioperative area while taking care of patients beyond his work requirement which has helped me prevent adverse effects to the patients. He is an invaluable member of our weekend OR coverage. I love his hard work, appreciate his help at all times. He makes the day/patient care go smoother.
