Jennifer is the most compassionate, confident, caring nurse that any patient could hope for. I have been a patient for 5 days and all the nurses have been professional and attentive with my healthcare needs. However, the one nurse who I called “Magical” is her. She was the nurse on duty when the surgeon uncovered my wound and yes, I fell apart. She was my ears and my support as I felt more than overwhelmed with seeing the surgery site. She allowed me to cry and vocalize all of my feelings. She kneeled by my bedside and took the time that I needed to listen and share her professional experiences and feedback. Sure, she did her high-quality patient care, but it was the personal, emotional care that saved me from completely falling apart today! I was alone at the time when all the doctors, home healthcare, wound care, physical therapy professionals, and infection control attended my room. She seemed to “magically” appear on her busy demanding rotations to help me gather significant information and understand my ongoing health care needs. She even educated my husband and son on how to care for my open wound by cleaning, packing, and wrapping the wound area. She has no idea how much the value of her time, patience, and knowledge meant to my family and me. I wish that we could duplicate more people to raise their standards to imitate the jewel that Wesley Long has found in this nurse.
