Erik cared about the extreme level of pain I was experiencing. He provided medical pain relief asap without making me wait. On a sunny day, he lowered the shades and positioned me in my usual side position. He suggested that my wife bring my pillow and blanket; it comforted me to have familiar things. He made me feel like I mattered. 
Erik followed the doctor’s orders exactly while trying ways to make me comfortable. He was true to his word. I trusted him to follow through. He was always honest with me. 
Erik was explicit and detailed when explaining procedures and treatments, even while performing my painful wound care. This eased my medical PTSD. Erik has an exceptional knowledge of my Hyponatremia and cellulitis which helped me understand what was going on. Erik's previous experience was helpful in finding ways to position me in bed without causing more pain. He found the first comfortable position that I had experienced in several previous days. Erik is a team player. He asked for my input and listened to me during wound care and it lowered my anxiety. Erik applies his knowledge in a common-sense way. 
In summary, Erik was compassionate while maintaining a professional distance throughout his shifts with me. I was able to trust and rest assured that his treatment plan would follow meticulously the word and intention of the doctor's orders. Erik's handling of my situation met the highest standard of the nursing profession.
