That morning we got assigned our "heaven-sent angel " nurse Rena.
The way Rena does her job and takes care of her patients, there is no sense of thinking you don't trust her when it comes to her job. You can tell she takes pride in what she does, loves what she does, and wants a patient to feel like family. She doesn't just give you medicine, she explains what it is, what it is for, and why you need it. She tells/shows you how to get prepared for an epidural shot, talks to you gently, and holds your hand while you get the procedure done. She is someone you will never forget because of how well she does her job.
My wife and I were admitted early morning for induction of labor for our 1st child. Being first-time parents, we were so anxious and full of mixed feelings about how the experience would be. My wife is a foreigner and from a different culture was so anxious and kept telling me, "I pray to God we get good nurses to attend to us and a nurse who will respect my culture." And truly God answers prayers!
That morning we got assigned our "heaven-sent angel " nurse Rena. She came to our room with a huge smile, introduced herself, explained to us the plan of the day, and when she was done she went ahead to ask if we needed anything and if we had any questions; the most amazing thing she asked my wife if she had any culture requests to be considered during her admission. That question relieved all the anxiety my wife had knowing that somebody cared, and she was in safe hands. I cannot write every detail of how Rena treated us during our stay in labor and delivery; all we can say is there are truly good nurses and compassionate nurses and Rena is one of them. May God bless her and may she continue being a blessing to many. Rena treated us with respect, love, compassion, and we felt at home.
