Because Dawnica thought out of the box and she would not take no for an answer we were able to dialyze our patients.
I want to acknowledge the efforts of my Charge Nurse Dawnica Owens. During the recent winter storm, she reached out to our local officials, Fire Departments, Construction companies, anyone she could think of who could possibly help us and our patients get water. She literally went next door to the Fire Station’s warehouse and told them she needed one of their huge tanks filled with water and got so emotional when she was explaining why she cried. It worked! She convinced them to fill our temporary tanks from the hydrants and did not hesitate to ask anyone she thought could haul water to our other facilities. We ultimately only needed to use one of the 3 tanks they filled before we got our water back but because she thought out of the box, and she would not take no for an answer we were able to dialyze our patients. I am proud of all my team because we were here every day doing our best, but she went above and beyond to make sure we got what we needed to take care of our patients.
