When it came to saying goodbye to Sarah, "thank you" didn't feel like enough. The gratitude we feel towards her can't be put into words.
I can't say enough about all of the nurses here at Boston Children's Hospital! All are true heroes in my eyes!! My son was admitted with bronchiolitis and on easily the most stressful day of my life, Sarah's calm and compassionate manner immediately made both my husband and I feel much better. When we arrived at the ICP, nerves were sky high, we were a little nervous seeing the whole team dressed in scrub covers and wearing masks. Sarah immediately introduced herself as our nurse, asked how we were doing, and explained they were all dressed like this for respiratory patients and we immediately relaxed a bit. The monitor alarms can be very alarming but with every sound, she was right there in seconds knowing exactly what he needed, better calming our nerves. She answered all our questions so clearly and always made sure to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. Our son needed ALOT of deep suctioning and of course wasn't a fan of the process. Sarah was so gentle and soothing with every suction as if he was her own. My husband and I were thrilled to see her the following night as well, knowing he was going to be in good hands again while we got some much-needed rest. When it came to saying goodbye to Sarah, "thank you" didn't feel like enough. The gratitude we feel towards her can't be put into words. It felt as though she was treating my whole family, not just my son. So grateful for BCH and especially Sarah.
