When people are feeling burnout or unmotivated, Basil will sit and talk with the employee to uplift them.
Basil is a charge nurse on 4WT, but he also gets pulled to charge all over the hospital. Every time he gets floated to other units, he makes sure that all staff knows that he is around to support and help whenever they need him. Since the pandemic started we hired several agency and traveler nurses to help us, but Basil tried his best to support and orient them about hospital settings. He would take time to educate them on policies to assure that the staff and patients were being cared for properly. He always prioritizes the patient’s safety no matter how busy he is. If he hears a bed alarm or IV pump alarm, he immediately comes and checks the patient even though he is in the middle of something. When people are feeling burnout or unmotivated, Basil will sit and talk with the employee to uplift them. He reminds them about how good they are and the positive impact they deliver every day to their patient. And during the pandemic, there have been many adjustments and changes throughout the entire hospital and Basil has adjusted amazingly to it and motivates his peers at the same time. Basil works tirelessly and he is one of the best nurses that I worked with.
