Mary talked to my brother in such a thoughtful and respectful way that you would have thought he was her brother.
My brother B was a patient in the CTICU. During my visits, I encountered Mary Harkins RN who was not only extremely knowledgeable and skillful but kind, caring, and professional. Mary talked to my brother in such a thoughtful and respectful way that you would have thought he was her brother. Ms. Harkins took such good care of B, bathing, shaving, and feeding him and treated him with great dignity. Even though I was only able to spend a few hours a day with B, I was never afraid to leave because I could see that he was receiving such great care. My daughter and I are both RNs and we have seen many situations that were not handled with such empathy and care. Although we are still grieving, we could not let this opportunity pass by without sending a letter thanking Mary for her wonderful and compassionate care.
