I was admitted to the hospital for labor and delivery for two nights however my daughter was admitted to the NICU immediately after delivery. I met Shirlee the first night we were both there. I was very upset! I was worried, I was anxious, I was afraid and I was having a hard time trying to breastfeed. Shirlee was so kind and provided support to me like she was my own mom. Due to Covid, none of my family could be there but Shirlee was there and she filled the role immediately. She was calm and supportive. she knew just what to say in such a fragile time. She shared personal stories that gave me strength and comfort. She didn't make me feel worse about my situation but made me feel like everything was going to be just fine. Shirlee is so knowledgeable, warm, and loving and we were so lucky to have her as a NICU nurse. We will never forget her.
