Aura Bailey was a pleasure to work with and learn from, and I do believe that she has a very strong work ethic. She is not only friendly and a pleasure to be around but also after observing her return patient calls showed how much she cared for them as well. One specific instance was when I was shadowing Aura during my clinical rotation and a patient called because he was worried about his blood pressure being elevated. The numbers he stated were within normal limits, but he felt they were still rather high for him. Aura took down the information and patiently spoke with the patient. She explained to me that he was a “regular” caller that some people would shrug off as being an attention seeker, but Aura seemed to look beyond the surface and paid attention to his concerns, which the patient perceived as being very real. This was only one example I have mentioned about Aura, but during this experience, I have seen her treat all patients she came in contact with exactly the same. This was a great lesson for me about being caring and patient amidst the “busyness” that can sometimes overwhelm nurses in their effort to provide care to their patients. Aura truly exemplifies individualized nursing and caring and the KP Nursing Vision of “Extraordinary Nursing Care. Every Patient. Every Time.”
