Mary is consistently and wholeheartedly giving of her time, skills, and knowledge in the nursing field.
I nominate Mary Ellis, RN, from the Psychiatry Department as deserving recipient of the DAISY Award. This nurse exemplifies the kind of nurse that patients and families, as well as nurses, physicians and other members of the health care recognize as an outstanding role model. Mary has shown a strong work ethic and devotion to compassionate care for patients and their families. She is fast acting and proactive in providing excellent patient care.
Not only do nurses and other staff respect Mary but patients know her by name and respect her nursing expertise, as well. Mary is consistently and wholeheartedly giving of her time, skills, and knowledge in the nursing field. Recently, a patient had to be placed on a 5150 hold and Mary was able to coordinate all necessary plans and care for the patient. The patient had family and her newborn baby with her in the office and Mary was able to keep all parties calm, organized and well-informed during the patient’s crisis. She spent over 4 hours with this family to make sure patient and families needs were met. Mary continues to be a wonderful patient advocate that is well respected in the Kaiser Permanente family.
