Rashad kept his composure and did an excellent job both safely and accurately.
On two different shifts, I could not have survived without Rashad’s help. For this, I’d like to nominate him for his first DAISY. On the first shift, I had an end of shift admission. The patient was extremely unstable and had an upper GI bleed that was being mass transfused. Being a new graduate nurse, Rashad had not experienced this patient situation before, however, you never would have guessed that. He jumped right in as a recorder, liaison, and communicator of critical lab results, ordered labs, etc. Although this situation was high stress and the patient was critically ill, Rashad kept his composure and did an excellent job both safely and accurately. I am so proud and thankful for him.
On the second shift, I had an unexpected terminal wean event, while the rest of the unit was admitting a different critical patient down the hallway. Rashad probably made ten trips to the Pyxis and supply room for me in a matter of ten minutes. He was vital in helping this patient in need. He facilitated IV infusion changes as the pump was outside the room, communicated needs with the provider team, and gathered all necessary medications and supplies quickly! I am so thankful and impressed by Rashad’s teamwork and work ethic! I truly could not have survived without his help. Thank you, Rashad
