Susan would listen to my troubles and worries and calm them with sincere empathy and understanding.
Susan is the best kind of nurse. She is not only accurate and efficient she is an excellent listener and caregiver. Susan saved me when I had pneumonia from the same MSSA bacteria that took my leg and invaded my compression fracture in my spine. She would not only read my medications aloud but in a few short words explain what each was for. Example: Bacafin for nerve pain, 4-hour Oxicotin for pain, two units Lantus for long-acting insulin control, etc. Susan acted quickly and confidently when my respiration was choking me. She changed my body position and increased my O2 until I was out of danger. Susan would listen to my troubles and worries and calm them with sincere empathy and understanding. She would pop in to check on me on the days I was not assigned to her.
I would like Susan to receive a DAISY Award because she is like one. Strong roots that grow in the toughest environment, a strong stem that is tough to cut but supple enough to bend in a strong wind. A beautiful flower that cheers you up when you see it. Susan deserves this because she saved both my body and spirit when I was close to the end. Susan saved my life and I will remember her for all my days. I would trust her with my life in any situation!
