Amy was very tactful, knowledgeable, informative, and convincing. She managed this with humor and good common sense.
I brought my husband in Tuesday evening for a blood clot in his arm. I have to tell you, I have never been so proud to be a part of such a great facility! It is so important to care not only for the patient but to include the family. The staff at AVH has become part of our family by being so compassionate, informative, and treating us with such dignity and respect. We are so appreciative. We were admitted to 4Tower. We were impressed with all the nurses but the one who stood out was Amy Coddington. Amy was right on top of everything. She spoke with the doctors and got orders for consults, tests and kept us informed but the most impressive thing for me was how she managed my husband’s attitude. He was frustrated and thought he should be able to go home. She was very tactful, knowledgeable, informative, and convincing. She managed this with humor and good common sense. Ultimately, he decided to calm down, stay admitted, and best of all she convinced him that it was all his idea. I was in awe of how well Amy handled this man I have been married to for 36 yrs. I need to take her home with me or at least get a few lessons from her. This young woman is wise beyond her years and will one day be one of your best leaders.

It was a sudden hospitalization for us. When things happen suddenly and there is stress, anxiety, and uncertainty. It can take a toll on the patient as well as families. Amy is that ray of sunshine in a gloomy situation. From the time the patient came in contact with Amy and my initial and ongoing contact was nothing short of awesome. She was attentive, thorough and patient, always smiling and her helpfulness was very genuine. Every question asked if she didn’t have the answer, she was resourceful enough to get the information and follow through. Amy has an awesome personality to match her awesome people skills. This attribute is not commonly found in all nurses. She has obviously chosen a career she was made for. She is comforting, knowledgeable, and practical. Personally, I hated her shift to come to an end. We so enjoyed her as a person and nursing professional. She is an exceptional human being.
