During the patient’s stay on 8PE as Liz spoke Polish, she cared for the patient and developed a trusting relationship with his wife by providing her daily updates via phone.
Liz traveled from her home on her day off which is a 45 to 60 mins drive to review the discharge information in the Banta Lobby for a patient’s wife who only spoke Polish. The patient was admitted to 8PE for 34 days and received a Haploidentical transplant. During the patient’s stay on 8PE as Liz spoke Polish, she cared for the patient and developed a trusting relationship with his wife by providing her daily updates via phone. A professional image of nursing is ultimately demonstrated by pride in one’s own profession as measured by each patient encounter. Liz exudes this pride as she enjoys every moment she cares for patients and their families. Each moment is of the highest quality. Her commitment to serving her patients the best she can and the dedication she places upon her work is evident by what she did for this patient and his wife.
