Loree has a unique ability to do her job and at the same time take the time to comfort me and my mom plus treating and caring for my dad as if it were her own family member.
My 89-year-old father spent 37 days at Baylor Heart Hospital following triple bypass surgery. We were admitted to the hospital after a routine cath. This was the first nurse we had. On that first evening, and how lucky we were to have her, Dad suffered a heart attack and this nurse saved his life. They were calm, professional, caring, and knew exactly what to do in a frightening situation. That was the beginning of a very long 37-day journey. Dad would later suffer two cardiac arrests and again this nurse was thankfully our nurse. They saved Dad again, acting quickly and confidently, and brought dad back again with their expertise and knowledge that saved Dad. They have a unique ability to do their job and at the same time take the time to comfort me and my mom plus treating and caring for my dad as if it were her own family member. We had many more scary nights as Dad suffered respiratory failure and pneumonia. Dad would be intubated twice during the 37 days. Even on the nights I didn’t get this nurse, they were always open and available to any questions I had. They truly care about their patients whether they are assigned to them or not. Their dedication is unprecedented. Their courage holds no bounds. And their loving spirit is inspiring. I looked forward to every night and so did my dad. They have a way of putting the patient and the family at ease. They are a combination of courage and compassion. They always went beyond the call of duty. I saw them save my dad’s life and we are forever grateful to them. Dad is doing great, and we have this nurse to thank especially.
