Allison's voice and touch were in itself – healing. She helped my son into a gown and then surprised him with a green stuffed dinosaur.
I had to take my 10-year-old son to the ER on Tuesday evening for some abdominal cramping. He was crying out from the pain and my husband, and I were nervous and confused as to what it could be. Through further discussion with the medical staff, we realized it was possible that it could be constipation. After an x-ray, the doctor determined it was in fact constipation. I felt awful because I thought something as simple as constipation should have been easy for me to treat at home. I was worried I had wasted valuable resources and everyone else’s time. Which is why I needed to take time to note how understanding, caring and compassionate your staff treated my son and I while we were there.
Once back in our room, we were greeted by Nurse Allison. She was a true angel. Her voice and touch were in itself – healing. She helped my son into a gown and then surprised him with a green stuffed dinosaur. The doctor was patient and understanding as we tried to determine what the core problem was. At the end of it all, it thankfully turned out to be a minor problem that was treated with fluids and frequent bathroom breaks.
Even though our problem was minor (thank goodness), we were never made to feel like we were an inconvenience to anyone. It meant a lot to my son and me that we were treated with dignity, care, and respect. Thank you so very much! When we left my little boy said, “Mom, I’m going to miss those nice people.” My son sleeps with his green stuffed dinosaur and has given him the name “Allison Mack” after the nice nurses that helped him that night.
