Becky is an outstanding diabetes nurse educator with an unparalleled dedication to patients. She has worked alongside our diabetes team for many years and has changed the lives of countless veterans. Becky takes the time to get to know each veteran that she cares for on a personal level and I have received more positive feedback from veterans about Becky than any other member of our team.
Recently, I learned that Becky exceeded even her own high standards with a patient and his wife who were struggling. Not only did she take the time to write him an up-to-date list of all of his meds and what they were for (not just his diabetes meds), but she helps to coordinate his appointments with other services. The patient and his wife have been overwhelmed lately with all of his medications and appointments due to the complexity of his medical care, but also various responsibilities at home. Becky not only coordinated with the scheduling clerks but also providers in two additional departments to ensure that the patient received care that was timely and convenient. In doing so, she went well beyond what she is required to do and did it happily.
