The new mother was very scared as expected. Stephanie took charge of the situation, she made sure the mother and the baby were okay.
Working in this area, you never know what is coming in your door or outside the ramp. One morning someone opened the doors yelling, ‘she had a baby’. Stephanie without hesitation runs to the ambulance ramp, greeted by a woman with a newborn in her arms. She gave birth in the car on the way to the hospital. The new mother was very scared as expected. Stephanie took charge of the situation, she made sure the mother and the baby were okay. The baby was crying. The father was the driver of the car. Stephanie took the moment to make the situation special for the family. By getting the father’s phone and letting him have the moment to cut the cord, before moving the mother and child. Even though this was not a traditional birth, this nurse made sure the father was able to be involved. She also stayed with the mother while delivering the placenta and was able to calm mom, as she was crying and overwhelmed. This nurse remained at the mother’s bedside calming her and the mother was very thankful that Stephanie took control, made sure everyone was safe, and included the father in this scary situation.

Stephanie is a great person, mother, wife, and nurse. How thoughtful she was to make this non-traditional delivery special for the father as well, by taking the moment to let him cut the cord and film it on his phone, so they can reflect back on their baby’s birth. I am honored to work with such a dedicated nurse. This is just one of the many examples of how Stephanie goes above and beyond every day that she works.
