Marimer Gebusion has been with the San Francisco VA since 2016. She is known to her peers for her positive attitude, which has boosted team morale in the Emergency Department. Several veterans commended her work ethic in that she goes the extra mile to make them comfortable. For example, a veteran commented on how she used gentle care in taking off his dressings by using alcohol swabs. She ensures that the veterans can contact their loved ones and that the family is updated during the process. One veteran stated, “She truly champions true dedicated lineage of Florence Nightingale in the care she provides.” When another veteran was feeling fearful during hospitalization, he said Marimer stayed nearby to make sure the veteran was all right, establishing trust, and making him feel like she was a close friend of his. A third veteran said she was friendly, professional, focused, and respectful, meeting all the ICARE principles.
