Amy Bankhead was caring for the baby in the NICU and helped to provide a Zoom call so that the patient could see her baby.
A patient was having a rainbow baby when they were admitted to L&D at 37 weeks for an unexpectant delivery, and the baby had to go to the NICU. After delivery, the mother's health started to decline, and she had to be transferred to the ICU. As both the baby and mother's health both started to improve, the mother was transferred to PCU. The patient was desperate to hold her baby. Amy Bankhead was caring for the baby in the NICU and helped to provide a Zoom call so that the patient could see her baby. This enabled the patient to not only hear her baby but to see him too. And while the mother was elated at this, Amy could tell she still craved holding her baby. Amy knew this is what the mother needed and spoke with the neonatologist to get approval to transport the baby to the patient’s room for a surprise visit, allowing mother and son to unite for the first time since delivery. The visit was a success and there was not a dry eye in the room. None of this would have been possible without ultimately Amy Bankhead's leadership.
Thank you Amy for all you do for our patients, families, and team members! Congratulations on winning the DAISY Award!
