Ruth, ED RN, came to the Birthing Suite to help with a crisis situation. Following the birthing of a baby, a woman runs the risk of bleeding too much. This is actually the number one cause of death during childbirth and we had this type of situation occurring. The staff on the Birthing Suite called for help and Ruth came immediately. She came with a positive attitude and exceptional skills and arrived with an alert, calm, and competent demeanor. She was a tremendous help. It is not always easy to walk onto another unit and feel comfortable. In a small hospital, we often have to help other units and we were so thankful that Ruth came over in our time of great need. She is a tremendous asset to this hospital and she was able to put the family and nurses of the Birthing Suite at ease.
