Veronica made me and my husband feel at home in the PICU during the scariest moment of our lives. After our daughter had a complex febrile seizure and was airlifted to Children's, we received excellent care from a team of nurses and doctors, and Veronica's care for us stood out. She exemplifies everything you look for in a nurse - displaying care for our 2-year-old as if she were her own, compassion for me and my husband who were coming down from a state of shock and adrenaline, and always was very fast to respond happily to any call we had (regardless of how non-urgent they may have been). The first night my daughter was in the PICU she was just coming off of antiseizure sedative medication and was not happy to find herself hooked up to many machines. As a result she was constantly removing and getting tangled in the cords. Veronica maintained a positive and friendly attitude as she came in countless times throughout the night to untangle and fix everything over and over again to make her more comfortable. She also helped us pick her up to hold her many times throughout the night by disconnecting and reconnecting the necessary machines. She never let an alarm go on for longer than a minute - which was crucial to our comfort once she finally fell back asleep. We greatly appreciate Veronica's top notch care for our daughter and us from the moment we were admitted throughout a very difficult night in the PICU.
