You know it will always be a good day at work when you see Jen’s name on the board.
Jen is always so positive and upbeat. We always look forward to working with her. She nominated all of our staff for WAND’s healthcare hero of the week. Jen is always so selfless and puts her patients and coworkers before her own interests, wants, and needs! Jen is wonderful in high-stress situations, like codes. Jen is also great with her patients and their families.
One time, a patient (whom Jen was not caring for) was deteriorating. Jen took the initiative of calling the family to explain the urgency of the situation, what was happening, and what we were doing for that patient. Even though she didn’t have to, it allowed the primary nurse to focus on stabilizing the patient. In the three years that we have worked with Jen, I have actually never heard her complain about anything – personal or work-related. With the hard times of COVID, she still is selfless and makes everyone smile. She didn’t have to take the time to nominate us for the healthcare heroes, but she still did.
One time, we had two patients coding at once, and she managed to flex to both rooms to see if we needed anything. She is amazing at running codes and leading them. Her communication in high-stress situations between patients, doctors, staff, and families is always calming, clear, and effective. Not to mention, she has an infant at home whom she could put all her focus on, but instead, she spreads happiness everywhere she goes, including work! She is thorough and patient with students/orientees. She even makes us homemade chocolate chip cookies! She is considerate to the oncoming shift that she doesn’t even work with. We just wanted to thank Jen for her sincere compassion for her profession. We are so lucky and honored to be able to work with Jen!
