Moira always shows respect for the staff and models compassionate care for all. Her concern for the well-being of others doesn't stop with the patients.
When you think of an exceptional nurse, Moira Furman is without a doubt at the very top of this list. Throughout her years of service as a nursing supervisor, she has been the rock of support to the staff of St. Mary's Healthcare. So many times the sentence, "I'm so glad Moira was there," has been said by the staff. This is because Moira has a way of knowing exactly where she is needed most and jumps in without hesitation to help in any situation. And she does this with humility and grace.
Moira always shows respect for the staff and models compassionate care for all. Her concern for the well-being of others doesn't stop with the patients. She has genuine respect and cares for her coworkers. When Moira asks how you're doing, you know she genuinely cares. Moira is the nurse we all aspire to be because not only is she a wonderful patient advocate, but she advocates for her coworkers. When we tried to think of a specific nomination to show how amazing Moira is, we couldn't pinpoint one. That is because every nurse had a different story or example of when Moira supported them, helped them, and came running when they called.
Over her more than 25 year career, she has demonstrated skillful and compassionate care to her patients and coworkers, demonstrating what an extraordinary nurse is day in and day out, always ready to guide and teach the newer nurses, always supporting the staff as they strive to be the nurse that Moira believes they can be and so much more. Thank you, Moira, for all you do, all that you are, and all that you have taught so many nurses to be. You are without a doubt extraordinary.
