Cory exemplified compassion and excellence in her interactions with a patient and his parents.
Cory Hoover has been taking care of one of my patients with special and intensive needs. On the day of discharge, she came in on her day off to make sure this was a smooth and successful transition. Not only did she give exemplary care the entire time this patient was in the hospital, but she went above and beyond to come in on her day off.

Cory exemplified compassion and excellence in her interactions with a patient and his parents. She earned his trust and respect allowing her to practice a safe discharge exit plan for the patient that had previously resulted in outbursts with damage to staff and property. On the actual day of discharge, she volunteered to come in for the patient’s departure to ensure success. She held the patient’s hand and walked him out. They reached the private vehicle and the patient then gave her multiple hugs. This potentially volatile event was successful because Cory went above and beyond to show care and compassion to a patient and family in need.
