Jessica understood that my wife was entering into hospice and wanted to make sure that my wife’s family had one good, last visit with her.
I want to recognize and commend this ICU Nurse for her excellence and compassion in caring for critical care patients that are under her charge for an ICU visit. Her dedication to the comfort and feelings of the patient and thoughts and concerns of the loved ones who had cared for the patient prior are exemplary.

When the ambulance arrived at Avon, she was having issues with pains in the chest, breathing difficulty, atrial fibrillation, and suffering from errant SVTs, to further complicate matters. As soon as my wife arrived in the ICU, Jessica took over and helped her get comfortable with her surroundings and made sure that her needs were met. After my wife started to fall asleep, Jessica asked me about her medications. We went over them together, including a new one recently prescribed. I told her that I was only able to get my wife to take it one time but then afterward she was the wife I had known from years ago because her mind was clear and able to recall her recent past. Jessica understood that my wife was entering into hospice and wanted to make sure that my wife’s family had one good, last visit with her. Our family came together and had the best visit that we’ve all had in years. My wife was herself, laughing and happy for that evening. We were all able to gather and spend time with her. My wife understood where she was and was at peace with her decision to enter hospice. She was able to reassure her family that she was ready to pass, even if they weren’t.

Jessica provided us with a selfless gift that needs to be recognized. Our family is eternally grateful for her caring and compassionate act! Thank you, Jessica, you meant the world to us, that night!
