When Siena is working our entire staff can rest assured that our night is a little smoother (and more caffeinated as she is our resident coffee barista). Many of the patients on 10WT are neurologically devastated requiring total care from parents and staff or our patients have seizures that need to be tended to by the nursing team immediately. Despite how busy Siena is caring for her own patients she has been there every call for help and in the room for every staff assist. When my adult patient who I was unable to lift by myself needed a diaper change Siena not only came to assist once but came every time she saw me in their room even without being asked - and that is just one example of the many, many times Siena has come to the rescue. When her assignment is not busy instead of sitting Siena walks around our entire unit offering assistance to her colleagues. Her technological skills also make her our go-to person for Epic Xboxes and other electronic devices some of us struggle with. She volunteers to precept nursing students and always takes the time to provide learning opportunities to them. I observe her and her compassion with her patients in comforting a child who is alone or drawing pictures to brighten up their day. She sends out positive messages through our Voalte phones to uplift our day and is very flexible with her shifts in order to accommodate coworkers even when it inconveniences her own schedule. Even with all the recent changes and lack of staffing I have never heard her complain. She really exemplifies what it means to be a team player and our unit would not be the same without her.
