Jason genuinely cares about his patients and their families, and he goes above and beyond to advocate for them.
My dad tested positive for COVID. After spending a week at home getting worse instead of better, my mom finally convinced him to go to the ER. He was severely dehydrated, his oxygen was very low (74) and his kidneys were failing, He was sent to the ICU by ambulance. In the early morning 2 days later, he was put on a ventilator. After a stressful and terrifying week with many complications, he was taken off the ventilator. He spent a few more days in ICU recovering before he was sent to step down. He is currently in inpatient rehab and will be coming home tomorrow.

He had many amazing nurses while in the ICU, and while they all absolutely deserve credit and recognition for everything they do, there is one nurse in particular that I want to acknowledge. His name is Jason, and he was an absolute angel for our family. During my dad's stay in the ICU, my mom was also positive for COVID and quarantined at home, so I was on my own visiting the hospital and trying to communicate with everyone and deal with what was going on with my dad. Jason had my dad his first full day there before he went on the ventilator. He took the time to talk to me and explain everything that was going on and what to expect going forward. The next morning, my dad was put on the ventilator before Jason got there, but he is the one who talked to me and told me what was going on. I was pretty hysterical, but he remained calm and reassuring and explained what to expect going forward. He let me come in to see my dad (although I couldn't go in the room) and he took time to spend with me answering questions and giving me support. He never made me feel rushed or like I was in the way. He genuinely cares about his patients and their families, and he goes above and beyond to advocate for them.

Jason was back with my dad after a few days off. My dad had an infection at that point and had been running a fever, so Jason knew we needed to get him off the ventilator. He tried that morning, but unfortunately, it didn't work out, but Jason did not give up. The next day he tried again but took him off the sedation more slowly. By the time I got there for my visit, my dad was sitting up in bed, with the tube out and a breathing mask on. He was a miracle! He was still extremely out of it, I told Jason I tried talking to my dad through the door but he couldn't quite look at me. So he went and asked him to look at me and he did! He told my dad who I was and asked him to give me a thumbs up which my dad did, that was an amazing moment! That was a perfect example of Jason going out of his way to give me that special moment with my dad. I absolutely credit Jason with saving my dad's life. He went above and beyond for my dad and my family. We can never truly express how grateful we are to him and all the other nurses and medical staff who saved my dad's life.
