Alex ...related to me, and gave me the best understanding of what I needed to do to have my stay be successful.
I was admitted to the Behavioral Health Unit and was an emotional wreck spiraling downward into a very dark and dangerous place. I have never suffered from depression or had any mental health treatment at all. This process is completely foreign to me. I was deeply distraught about my marriage and my life. Alex was my nurse when I walked in. He interviewed me but what he really did was to understand and appreciate me, relate to me very quickly, gave me an outlet to cry and break down, and gave me an introduction to what I could expect. I am deeply grateful. I am a Type A business personality and it's very difficult for me to submit to a process that I can’t control. Alex picked up on that right away, related to me, and gave me the best understanding of what I needed to do to have my stay be successful. I am writing this three days later and I believe my stay in the Behavioral Health unit has been a success, certainly due to the exceptional staff (everyone!) but that first interaction made a huge difference. I will always be grateful for that conversation with Alex.
