Bruce took the time to connect with my daughter. He shared his story with her so that he could let her know that she was not alone and that she could overcome what she's facing and be okay.
We recently had a patient who because of his diagnosis became agitated and was attempting to get up, take off his head dressing and leave. This patient was not assigned to Bruce but he saw a need and immediately stepped in to help. He remained calm, explained to the patient what was happening and helped redirect the patient in order to keep him safe. He demonstrated patience and compassion and also maintained the patient’s dignity in the process. The way he intervened in the situation kept everyone safe and calm, and the patient was cared for during a challenging moment with respect. Bruce demonstrated all the CORE behaviors and deserves recognition for the way in which he assisted his peers and worked to reassure the patient to maintain his safety.

Bruce is an exceptional nurse and he is a real inspiration. He took the time to connect with my daughter. He shared his story with her so that he could let her know that she was not alone and that she could overcome what she's facing and be okay. He let her know she could be more than okay. He became like a big brother to my daughter and she really looked up to him. And no one could do a blood draw from her midline like Bruce. He got the blood each time he tried. The patient really appreciated this because she has been stuck with a needle too many times during her illness and she really hates needles now. She always knew when Bruce came in the room in the morning that he would get the blood and no needle would need to be involved. Bruce is an exceptional nurse on your staff.
