Lisa’s bedside manner, patient focus, and training methods should be shared as best practices.
My wife and I learned to give our 7-month-old son injections. We have never given injections before and my very timid wife was extremely nervous. Lacking a great deal of confidence, my wife was terrified that she would hurt our son by making mistakes. She struggled to administer the first shot she gave him. Her fear worsened and her confidence sank. On Monday our dayshift nurse, Lisa, showered my wife with patience, empathy, and attention. Lisa provided my wife and I hands-on training using ink pens on our son. Lisa paid great attention to every aspect of the process of administering the shot and encouraged my wife through every step. She showed my wife how and where to hold the syringe and at what angle, providing feedback complete with explanations for each correction. Lisa’s bedside manner, patient focus, and training methods should be shared as best practices. My wife and I are ineffably grateful to Lisa for her care and expertise. Thank you, Lisa, for making us better parents and more confident caregivers to our son.
