Rob personally escorted them while he celebrated a very special day.
I had the honor of rounding on a gentleman and his family this week. The gentleman was a patient in both ICU and 2SD. This family was so appreciative of Rob’s compassion and gift of time on two different occasions. On the first occasion, the patient was extremely sick and on a ventilator and beginning CRRT. The family was very scared and unsure of everything taking place and worried about the ultimate outcome. Rob took the time to sit with the family and thoroughly explain every procedure taking place. He was patient and answered all questions. He put their minds at ease as he assured them we were providing excellent care and doing everything possible to help their loved one.
On the second occasion with the same family, the patient was in 2CD. He had been a patient at SOH for more than a month. The patient had not seen his young children since admission due to restrictions on children's visitation. Rob worked with the family, the doctors, and the nursing staff to safely set up a picnic for the patient and his family in the Rose Garden. Rob personally escorted them while he celebrated a very special day. For that, the family stated they would be forever grateful.
