I have worked with Kelly Kerns for 4 years. She is an outstanding nurse who goes beyond what is expected of a nurse. Her personal involvement and grace for hurting families is an example to all RN's. Kelly worked hard to get a family to visit a patient who has been hospitalized for 5 months here. The family had gone through a myriad of issues and was devastated over misunderstandings and hurt feelings. Kelly went beyond the call of duty to show expressions of grace and care for this hurting family. The husband and 2 sons have been semi-living in the cafeteria over the last 5 months and Kelly from ICU did all she could to meet needs and care for this broken family. She offered solutions and personal care for this family. Kelly demonstrates what UPMC is all about: Care, Compassion and Commitment.
