Danilo does not judge any patient, he is there just to provide them with the best possible care.
Danilo is not just a great nurse, he is compassionate, empathetic, truly embraces the nursing profession, and most importantly, greets every patient, family member, and visitor with a great big smile. Danilo listens to his patients. Many of our patients are frightened; frightened of being very sick, their uncertain future, and their loss of independence. Danilo makes time for all his patients. He explains everything to them, from what the numbers on the monitors mean to what to expect from every procedure and the plan of care. Danilo allows his patients to make as many decisions as possible to help give them some control over their situation. Danilo tries to take their mind off their illness. He talks to his patients, listens to their life stories, and makes his patients laugh. Sometimes laughter is the best medication.
Danilo does not judge any patient, he is there just to provide them with the best possible care. He gives them his support and acts as a source of comfort and trust. He will visit his patients when he is not assigned to them, and they know they can ask him anything. He has a way about him that makes his patients and family members feel comfortable enough to ask questions about their care. I cannot say enough about how wonderful Danilo is, so I would like to share with you a post from the daughter of one of Danilo’s patients. She writes:
“Thank you, Danilo. You were there to give her comfort and until the end; I saw the compassion you have in your heart. I was always relieved when you were there to care for her. Thanking God you were her nurse in the end. I always keep your words with me. I hope you know how much they soothe me. You are always welcome here in my home.”
Danilo is not only there for his patients, but for our staff as well. He makes every night a great night. He not only helps staff in our unit, but the entire night shift staff hospital-wide, knows Danilo as the nurse who can start an IV on anyone. Danilo is terrific.
