Bryant is a PICU nurse that is currently in the PNP program and will be graduating in June of 2021. I know Bryant as his clinical preceptor in the pediatric primary care setting. Bryant is an exceptional PNP student who is competent, kind, and efficient. He has a way to bring smiles to everyone. When he starts his shift, his demeanor is always calm and collective. Because he is bilingual, his little Spanish- speaking patients and their parents feel at ease immediately once he introduces himself to them. He has a special way of interacting with pediatric patients. The children he sees always walk away happy and the parents are satisfied with the care they received. Bryant goes above and beyond his duties to translate for other providers, stay back to help with calls including seeing patients if needed. Both staff and patients only have the best things to say about him. In addition, Bryant's DNP project is also groundbreaking and extremely important for the PICU department. LLU Children's Hospital does not have a protocol for the early mobilization of intubated pediatric patients to decrease agitation. Bryant developed a protocol and successfully collected data to support the positive effects of early mobilization in this extremely vulnerable population. Due to his graduate DNP project, PICU patients will now receive so many benefits from the protocol he developed.
