My mother was a patient at BSA. With the pandemic going on I was very reluctant to have my mother in the hospital at all, but it was something we couldn't avoid. Most of the staff was professional and did what was necessary to fulfill their job duties. Melissa Garth was a bright exception to this. When she came on she took the time to introduce herself and spend a few minutes getting to know my mother and her needs as well as her wants. That was refreshing. She also took that knowledge and put it to use during her shift.
Not only did she perform her medical duties with great professionalism, but she also did them with great compassion. My mother needed extra attention and pampering to make her feel the best she could. Melissa is exactly the kind of person that makes me proud to be from Texas. She not only did her job, but she went above and beyond to make my mother's stay the best it could possibly be. I will always be grateful for her kindness and compassion towards my mother. Let Melissa teach a class to the other employees on how to treat a patient with dignity and compassion.
