My mother came to INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center to take a routine test for an arterial blockage to the heart not knowing it would result in quadruple bypass surgery. Shortly after she was admitted to the 3rd floor Matt was assigned to care for my mother and get her ready for surgery the next day. It was like the good Lord was looking over my mother and placed Matt there to help prepare my mother for this journey. Matt was not only a great professional in his field but knew exactly what my mother needed to hear to help her understand what was going to happen over the next 48-72 hours. Matt explained each step and event to a level that just made sense. Sometimes doctors and nurses talk way above people outside of what they can comprehend but Matt put things in such a way that my mother could understand what was going to happen. Knowing how my mother is, Matt put her at ease and helped her understand the importance of taking the appropriate steps to help her get back to a normal life. If it wasn't for what Matt shared with her, I believe my mother would not have been as strong going into the surgery which would have made the recovery process much more difficult than it was. There are not enough words to say how thankful and appreciative my family and I are to Matt for all he did to prepare and help my mother to endure this life-changing event.
