Shanita bathed the patient and spent over an hour shaving his face. After this, took the patient outside to the park, and per other staff members, this was the happiest they had seen the patient since his arrival.
I witnessed Shanita show an exceptional amount of care today in the way she went above and beyond for her patient. The compassion and kindness she exhibited go beyond iCare. This is not the first time I have witnessed Shanita show this dedication and excellent care to her patients, but it stuck out to me because she had an overall busy day/assignment but made the time to go the extra mile for this patient. Shanita went through an assortment of foods with this patient to find something they liked. Since they have been here, they have eaten little to nothing saying "no" every time someone tries to feed them. Shanita never takes "no" for an answer and didn't stop till she found something the patient liked, and he ate his whole tray. It doesn't stop there, she bathed the patient and spent over an hour shaving his face. After this, took the patient outside to the park, and per other staff members, this was the happiest they had seen the patient since his arrival. I was happy to have witnessed all this while being on the monitor. I think this care goes above and beyond because Shanita did not even realize I was paying attention to all of this, yet she still did it. We have some of the best employees here at Barnes, and I am so lucky to have learned so much already. Shanita has unknowingly taught me so many things that I will use in my future career. I aspire to be even half the nurse she is when I graduate and know that if I was ever sick, I would want her taking care of me. I wanted to make you aware of her tremendous compassion and hard work. Shanita is amazing!
