Jessica remained focused on making sure the patient felt safe/supported.
Jessica accompanied her patient from the unit to a forensic interview. The patient's family lives out of state and has not been able to be present in-person for the patient's extended stay. The patient knew she was going for a forensic interview and was nervous. Jessica made sure that her day was scheduled to accommodate the trip and coordinated with Child Life prior, to make sure the patient knew what to expect and that she would not be alone. Once they arrived at the interview, Jessica remained focused on making sure the patient felt safe/supported. When it was time for her to go back for the interview, the patient stated that she wanted Jessica to sit outside of the interview room. So Jessica pulled up a chair and sat in the hall, outside of the interview room, and was still there when the patient was finished and walked out of the room.
