Beth provided comfort to me, reassuring me that we were making the right decision. She eased my worries and burden.
My husband and I drove out to Fargo on Easter for our daughter to have a check-up with her Cystic Fibrosis team, that visit turned into a hospital admission that we were not prepared for never mind the surgery our daughter ended up having. This hospitalization was a tough one because it was decided my 2-month-old was going to have a feeding tube placed. No parent wants to think about their newborn having surgery but our night nurse Beth helped to ease my concern. We had Beth three nights, the first night she took some extra time with me to answer any questions I had about the feeding tube and reassured me we were making the right decision. The second night she talked to me some more helping me bathe my daughter and prepared me for what to expect and how things were going to go. Our last night she prepared me for going home with the tube, making sure I was comfortable to take care of it. That week was a very difficult week for my husband and me, it was scary to have our newborn hospitalized never mind have surgery. Beth provided comfort to me, reassuring me that we were making the right decision. She eased my worries and burden. Dr. Maya Angelou said, “be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud” and Beth was definitely that for us.
