Nikki arranged for us to go for a drive in the hospital van. Just getting out for a short outing lifted our spirits.
There were several situations where Nikki went above and beyond to help me and other patients on the inpatient unit. When I first arrived on inpatient, I had to be in a wheelchair. Nikki spent extra time with me to help me get my shower. She was super patient and took extra care to make sure I was safe in the shower. She explained in detail how the night would go and was very supportive. I always appreciated the way Nikki would check in with me when she came to give me meds. She took the time to not only visit but made herself available to talk. I felt very comfortable talking to her about treatment and the challenges I was facing. She was good at listening and had good insight and advice. I was very grateful to have her support. Not only was she helpful to me, but she was there for other patients as well. Whenever Nikki worked she made the dining room better with fun stories and conversation. Nikki went out of her way to brighten our day. During one of her shifts, she followed through on our request to go for a drive. She arranged for us to go for a drive in the hospital van. Just getting out for a short outing lifted our spirits. She took us downtown to show us the lights and downtown Fargo. I always looked forward to the nights Nikki worked. She truly cares about the patients. She helped to make my stay on the inpatient unit more positive.

Note: This is Nikki’s 2nd DAISY Award!
