Once, Leah had a patient who turned 95 years old while on our floor, and Leah took the time to present her with birthday balloons and a cake and had all of us sing Happy Birthday with her.
A DAISY nurse not only shows strength and compassion to their patients, but they also take the time to show constant compassion to the team they work with. Leah always has a loving and positive attitude towards her teammates, and always takes the time to talk to them about their personal lives. She even prays with our team (both here with them in the hospital and on her own) to give them courage and comfort towards these trying times in nursing. Leah is a patient and kind soul who never receives a patient or team member complaint. She is always putting others before herself, and we often must remind her to take care of herself too. Leah is always coming to me thinking of ways to help boost the team's morale or make someone feel special. Once, Leah had a patient who turned 95 years old while on our floor, and Leah took the time to present her with birthday balloons and a cake and had all of us sing Happy Birthday with her. Leah always talks about the blessings in life, regardless of what's happening with staffing issues, patient acuity, or burnout - and it helps our team remember why we became nurses and why we love serving others. Leah is a gift to have on the Street 1 team, and we all don't know what we would do without her. Leah is truly the definition of a DAISY Nurse - her love and faith towards others define the reason the DAISY Award was created, and I hope you truly consider her in this nomination.
