Daphney was working at Take Care Health @ Walgreen’s clinic. The pharmacist left for the day and immediately returned to tell her that a customer was down in the parking lot and she didn’t think she was breathing. Daphney ran outside to find the customer's friend standing over her literally pounding on her chest. Daphney got her to stop and assessed the situation. The customer had a thready pulse but was not breathing and was cyanotic. By this point another store staff member had come out to check. Daphney sent her for the emergency kit and to call 911. Meanwhile, she positioned her with a chin lift and did sternal rubs to attempt to get her to breathe. She had no breathing effort. Her friend then told Daphney that she believed her friend had taken an “opioid”. When Daphney received the e-kit, she began to give rescue breathing with the bag/mask device. Daphney continued to breathe for her while the person that called 911 was placed on hold. It took approximately 12 minutes for EMS to arrive and take over care of the customer. She was given Narcan and woke up in the ambulance a few minutes later. She was transferred to the hospital.
