Jacob stayed at this man’s bedside for hours, closely titrating medications to try and stabilize this patient.
Jacob was floated down to the ER for helping hands one day. During the first part of the morning, he was helping the nurses and techs out with random tasks. A patient came into the ER after a witnessed cardiac event.  CPR was started, this man was very sick. The ER team was able to get the man back. Jacob stepped in and was doing chest compressions. After getting a pulse back, this is where Jacob really shined.  The ER physician started ordering IV drip medications to keep this mans blood pressure from falling. At one point the man was on 7 different IV drips to keep his blood pressure up and his heart beating and keep the man sedated.  Jacob stayed at this mans bedside for hours, closely titrating medications to try and stabilize this patient.  At one point, The ER doctor was in the process of transferring the patient to BUMC-Phoenix for CRRT- Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy. When the patient started to stabilize, we were able to cancel the transfer and admit him to our own ICU with only 4 IV drips going, and was eventually discharged 12 days later to a skilled nursing facility. I was very impressed by how Jacob took control of the situation and was able to stabilize this very critical patient. It has been a pleasure to see how much Jacob has grown over the past two years. Keep up the great work, it is not going unnoticed.
